Stephen George & Partners had previously submitted designs for a new build in a Conservation Area in Bridgegate, Retford. 33 affordable houses are to be built with hopes of revitalising a rundown area of the town centre. The Tenterflat walk, an adopted ‘ancient highway’ would also see improvements as part of the project.
A very undistinguished, empty building on the frontage was found to be causing a problem on site. Even though there was no other access point, the planning department raised objection to the buildings’ demolition. The designs have been held in planning application for the last two years.
Stephen George & Partners appealed, and following a hearing last week we are delighted to announce the appeal was a success. The inspector’s report is complimentary about the design proposals.
