STEPHEN GEORGE & PARTNERS JOINS CILT AS A CORPORATE MEMBER

Stephen George & Partners has joined the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) as a Corporate Member.

CILT is the independent international professional body for individuals and companies associated with logistics and transport. It has over 33,000 members in over 31 countries worldwide.

Membership follows our involvement with and attendance at the CILT Annual Conference and Dinner on 18th June for which we produced a film working in partnership with CILT and ITN. As part of the ‘Transport 2035’ programme, our film, with input from Eddie Stobart and Prologis UK Ltd, explored some of the latest innovations and best practice in the design of distribution buildings when related to ecommerce and the omni-channel purchasing habits of the consumer. A SHED LOAD OF BEER

Recently completed at New Raynesway in Derby is this 60,000 sq m, 15m high unit for logistics specialist Kuehne and Nagel. This enables K&N to fulfil their distribution agreement with Dutch brewing giant Heineken. They required that their warehouse be fully stocked with beer in time for the consumption of the World Cup viewing public.

The winning team line up consists of Stephen George and Partners, Developer Goodman and Contractor Winvic.

The building is located alongside the River Derwent on the former Courtaulds chemical works site following extensive remediation of the heavily contaminated land and infrastructure works which included major highway improvements to the A6 and construction of a new river crossing.

This building was a reserved matters planning application. Masterplanned by Stephen George and Partners, the outline permission for the 100 acre major regeneration of which this unit is part was granted in 2007. We currently have registered with Derby City Council a further reserved matters application for a similar 50,000 sq m distribution unit alongside, and anticipate approval soon.

CROSSWATER HQ EMERGES AT DARTFORD

The Stephen George & Partners, GP-designed headquarters for Crosswater Holdings is now well underway on site. 

The new 131,400 sq. ft. build-to-suit HQ at The Bridge site in Dartford is now well into its fit-out stage which, when complete, will provide consolidated logistics, office and storage space as well as a trade showroom. This will allow the company to consolidate its operations and bring together its three distinctive brands – Crosswater, Simpsons and Bauhaus.

As you can see, we have some interesting forms emerging, particularly the external balcony which will form break-out space from the second floor dining area.

STEPHEN GEORGE & PARTNERS DESIGN NEW HEADQUARTERS FOR EUROPA WORLDWIDE LOGISTICS

Stephen George & Partners are the first choice architects for a global industrial developer, with a build-to-suit agreement of a 262 square foot logistics facility in Dartford.

Partnering with Prologis, the new facilitiy will serve as the new headquarters for Europa Worldwide Logistics, one of the largest privately owned transport and logistics companies in the UK.

The new building has been designed to support the company’s road freight operations, and will achieve a minimum BREAAM 2011 ‘very good’ accreditation and the best EPC rating possible for its size.

Work will start on site in early summer 2014, with Europa moving in in Spring 2015.
